Classique Painters

Classique Painters was established in 1990 as a Sole Proprietary local painting company operating out of Fish Hoek.
Originally advertised in the local Billboard and Blue Book the company entered the local market and gradually through delivering a quality, reliable service at an attractive price found that through recommendations and referrals from satisfied clients the “Name” spread rapidly.
As the company grew the work base began to spread out of the Deep South area to the rest of the Peninsula. New contracts included a number of churches, multi-unit housing complexes in the Pinelands and the Northern Suburbs and high-rise apartment buildings in Sea Point, to name just a few.
In 2018, Robby Abrahamse the owner of the company handed over the reins to Charles Phillipson who continued to provide a personal “hands on” approach and maintain the high standards which has become synonymous with Classique Painters.
Charles is today the sole owner of the company and operates in strict compliance with the Building Industrial Bargaining Council regulations.
Robby provides assistance with the contract quotes when necessary.

The house had been locked up for over a year and we needed to move fast to get the home sorted out. Charlie and his team moved in and performed miracles to get the house painted on time, as well as getting the black mould sorted out. He came recommended by a friend and certainly did not disappoint! I painted our home outside a few years ago, thought I did a good job, and it looked great for a while! It was however looking decidedly shabby by end of last year, 2024, and decided to get it done professionally. I had seen work done by Classique Painters on a friends home in Noordhoek and was impressed with what they had done. You can do it cheaper by yourself but you probably won’t do four stages of preparation, followed by undercoat and two top coats of the best quality paint, to achieve completion. All the previous cracks and peeling and bubbles were totally eliminated. The end result looks fabulous, with attention to every detail such as fascia trim colour matching of old exterior light fittings and sliding gate. All parapet wall tops were re-sealed including some waterproofing of lean-to roofs on a garage and flatlet. Some rusty holes in the garage roof were also sealed at no additional cost. All done in about 6 working days with an experienced team who work together well, in an efficient and orderly manner

About a year ago I took on the supervision and of restoration of a house in Sun Valley, Fish Hoek.
No maintenance had been done on this house for many years. There were significant cracks in the outer walls, and compared to the neighbouring houses, it was in very poor condition, I would say quite dilapidated. In accordance with the owners wishes I called on three companies for quotations.
Even at this early stage it was clear that Classique Painters offered a superior service. Even though the quotation was slightly higher than the others, we decided to go with them because of the detail and the clarity presented in the quotation.
The work involved was very extensive. All the old paint work had to be power stripped with pressure spray, the cracks in the outer walls were opened, reinforced and sealed. Both inside and outside walls were primed, timber work and roofing were replaced and various other work not directly connected with painting was taken on by Charles Phillipson.
I soon discovered that Charles was not someone who sat around watching others do the work, but got engaged himself in doing some of the more skilled tasks for instance, restoring the woodwork on the garage door. Having been in the building trade myself for 20 years, I had some insight into the quality of a persons work. One look at Charles’s toolboxes and hardware storage boxes confirmed my high opinion of his work. The care which Charles took with these seemingly insignificant details actually speaks volumes.
Through his many years of experience in the painting trade he has acquired reliable contacts to other facets of the building industry and was able to suggest individuals or companies to take on aspects of the work like restoration of the steel gate and fencing.
On inspecting the work a year later, it is now the neighbouring houses that look shoddy in comparison.
Throughout this process it has been an absolute pleasure to work with Charles. He is an absolute gentleman and a highly skilled craftsman.
